John Obi Mikel’s future has been subject to speculation in recent weeks as many people believed that the Nigerian midfielder was on his way out of Chelsea. But the former Lyn Oslo man has stated clearly that he is remaining with Chelsea for the forseeable future.
Mikel told reporters that he had considered leaving Stamford Bridge but he had decided to stay since Mourinho wanted him to. Despite playing as practically a last resort player all of last season as he fell further down the pecking order, Mikel insisted that he is happy at Chelsea “I have two years left on my contract here and want to see them out. I am happy here and we will see what happens. I do want to stay, the manager wants me to stay so I don’t have any issues,” Mikel told London Evening Standard. Mikel went on to describe Chelsea as a club that had become like his family.
Mikel may be loyal to Chelsea and might be proud to say he is among some of the biggest players in one of the biggest clubs but is his lack of playing time affecting his form and ability?
