Gone In 180 Seconds: Sterling Scores Three Minutes Into Man City Debut

Manchester City beat AS Roma on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the International Champions Cup as Raheem Sterling got his Manchester City career off to a flying start as he scored within 3 minutes of his first match for the Etihad side

168 seconds into the match, was released and was one on one with the goalkeeper and the 19 year old showed real composure to slot the ball home to make it 1-0. It took only 8 minutes for Roma to level things up as Miralem Pjanic sent a long range effort past Cabellero in the Manchester City goal to even things up. The game was back and forth throughout the first half. 6 minutes into the second half, Nigerian youngster, Iheanacho found the back of the net after Ashely Cole misplaced a back pass and the ball ended up on the 19 year old’s feet. Roma left it late as Miralem Pjanic scrored his second of the game with a free kick which beat Hart from 20 yards. Joe Hart won the game for Manchester City saving two penalties in the second half.

Sterling would be happy to have silenced all the pundits who were saying he would not succeed at the Etihad stadium at least for now.
