The Tiger is back. Tiger Woods shot four straight birdies as he was on his way to three under 68 in the first round of the Quickens Loans National in Virginia. Which is a good thing.
The former world number one is five shots off the joint leaders South Africa’s Retired Goosen and Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa.
Woods who is now ranked 266th in the world shot his first four birdies in a row since the 2013 Bridge stone invitational, which was the last competition he won.
“That’s what scoring is all about,” Woods said.
“I made a lot of key putts today. I ran them by the hole but I made all the comebacks. Overall I felt like I hit the ball well enough to turn it around. It was nice to actually turn it around.”
