Left full back, Filipe Luis’ Chelsea future has been the subject of debate in recent weeks but Jose Mourinho put an end to those debates today as he announced the imminent sale of the Brazilian wing back who arrived at Stamford Bridge barely a year ago.
Luis cost Chelsea almost 20 million euros when he moved to London from Atletico Madrid but he never really hit the ground running unlike the other Spanish imports in the side forcing Chelsea to consider his necessity to the team. Atletico Madrid were reported to be very interested in bringing him and Chelsea had reportedly negotiated a deal which would see them sell Filipe Luis back to Atletico while minimizing their loss on the transfer. All these were speculative until Mourinho announced that the player was leaving and that he was in the market for a replacement. “In this moment we need a left-back because I think we are selling Filipe Luis now or Wednesday, but I think we will sell Filipe Luis,” Mourinho told reporters. “We need to go the market, we need to find a club that accepts a bid until August 31, and we are going for a left-back. In other positions we have no space. Luis would be looking to get some playing time and would be excited to move on from Chelsea.
Mourinho also told reporters that Egyptian speedster, Mohamed Sallah could also be on his way out of the club.
