Female Coach Makes NBA History As San Antonio Spurs Win Summer League

Becky Hammon had already made history when she became the first female full time assistant coach in the NBA last year at the San Antonio Spurs but she did one better as she won her first tournament as the Spurs Beat the Phoenix Sun to win the Summer League.

Hammon who is 38 won a bronze medal with Russia in the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing and joined the San Antonio Spurs coaching team as Assistant Coach in August 2014. Hammon now becomes the first female coach to win the Summer League of the NBA following a 93-90 win by the Spurs in the final.

The Summer league is one of three summer competitions the NBA organizes in the summer in which teams use trialists and junior players to identify budding talent
