Chelsea are trying desperately to sign young defender, John Stones from Everton as the young Englishman is being touted as the next john Terry but Everton are doing everything in their power to ensure that the deal doesn’t happen.
Last week, Chelsea made a 20 million pound bid for the 21 year old. But probably seeing how Liverpool held out and finally got a whopping 49 million pounds, Everton immediately threw out the offer. Chelsea returned with an improved offer of 28 million pounds and Stones who is keen on a move, would have been disappointed to find out that his current employers also rejected the bid. All three parties are still hoping a deal can happen as Everton are not holding on to some fantasy of keeping the England international for much longer.
Everton are reportedly looking to settle for a deal in the range of 35 million pounds if they are to let Stones leave the club in the summer. Chelsea would be wise to pay 35 million now because the rate of Stones development means that that fee could be almost doubled by next summer and there would also be a lot of clubs gunning for his signature then.
