Like a good soldier, Iker Casillas is prepared to follow his new master, Porto despite ongoing speculation that he never wanted to leave Madrid.
The iconic goalkeeper announced his departure from the club in a press conference alone and in tears, putting an end to 25 years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spaniard is a product of the Blancos academy and has been at the club since he was 10. His parents say he was forces out of the club, but Casillas has refused to comment on the matter. Instead he talks about his commitment to his new side.
“Nobody can doubt my effort or my commitment to my new shirt,” the 34-year-old shot-stopper told EFE.
“I will continue to work with the same enthusiasm and the same desire.
“In just a few days here, I have already felt the love and support of the fans on social networks, at the airport, in the stadium and on the streets of Porto.
“My first impression is that these are unbeatable fans.
“I’m happy, excited and eager to start this new project. Porto are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and certainly the best team in Portugal.”
