The All Progressives Congress (APC), interminable tussle for supremacy between loyalists of President Muhammadu Buhari, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu have taken a new dimension, following decision on who will control the party structure.
According to sources close to the polity, the delay in the president’s ministerial list and other key government positions is caused by some party chieftains who want the list delayed for a month or two so as to oust Saraki and Ekweremadu before key appointments are made.
A chieftain of the party said; “Those who are opposed to Saraki being the Senate president have promised that they can remove him and his deputy within a month or two, They don’t want the list of ministers to be sent to the Senate now until a new leadership emerges.”
Another report has it that an imminent clash between President Buhari and the Senate is brewing following allegations by some Saraki loyalists that the president instigated the permanent secretary of the ministry of finance, Mrs Anastacia Nwaobia, not to honour an invitation by the upper chamber.
A loyalist (Senator) to Saraki warned that; “It will not urgur well for democracy if the president will not allow civil servants to do their job. We should not carry this crisis in the (All Progressives Congress) to the Senate.”
