Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan appeared on the Today show, marking his first public appearance since the unfortunate car crash.

About a year ago, a Walmart truck crashed into Morgan’s limousine, severely injuring him and killing one of the two friends who were with him.

Morgan appeared on the show with his attorney, Benedict Morelli, speaking of how he never expected to be back on television.

“The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there,” he said.

When host Matt Lauer asked him about the crash, the 30 Rock alum began to cry, saying he didn’t remember the crash, only remembering that he woke up from a coma 2 weeks later to news that James McNair died in the crash.

“Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal,” Morgan said. “I’m happy that Walmart stepped up to the plate. They took full responsibility.”
