Seven People Arrested Over Match Fixing In Italy

Seven officials of Catania football club in Serie B, the second tier of Italian football have been arrested over allegations of match fixing.

The Authorities are set to investigate the action and the officials whose names are still unreleased at this point can be released on bail. Catania were relegated in the 2013/2014 season but they were unable to climb back into the serie A as their downward spiral continued when they finished 15th in the Serie B. the investigation begins as the Catania police described the case as complex as it involves about six to seven games and other clubs, referees and FA officials might also be involved.

Italy’s reputation in world football is already quite bad as no country has had more scandals about match fixing over the last forty years than Italy.
