The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan for Senate President.
According to report, the president expressed his preference for Senator Lawan as the new Senate President during a meeting between the president and members of the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A source, who preferred anonymity and was at the meeting stated that ”The president explained to us that the North Central part of Nigeria has held the Senate Presidency for long enough. He therefore disclosed that the post should be allowed to move to another geo-political zone”.
APC leaders are expected to meet this week and finalize on whether or not to go with President Buhari’s chosen candidate.
