Russia president Vladimir Putin has stated matter of factly that Russia won the bid to host the 2018 world cup on fair grounds.

Swiss authorities revealed that they are investigating the votes that awarded the hosting of the next tournament to Russia and the 2022 edition to Qatar.

This is Russia and Putin is involved already, let’s not start world war three.

The head of Fifa’s auditing and compliance committee, Domenico Scala, has since stated that if there was any corruption involved in the bidding or voting process for the next two World Cups, the chosen hosts could be stripped of the event.

However, Putin insists that Russia 2018 is secure, stating that the country has nothing to hide.

“If anyone has evidence, let them present it,” he said. “We won in a fair fight and are going to host the World Cup.

“We fought in an honest manner [for the tournament] and we won. We do not think the decision should be questioned.

“We were ready and that’s what convinced Fifa. The stadium construction has already started.”
