President Muhammad Buhari is reportedly skeptical of appointing anyone to manage the country’s petroleum affairs.
According to Reuters, Buhari is reportedly thinking of heading the ministry by himself.
“He will do it. It would be stupid to give that position to anyone else,” a source said, adding that “Nigeria’s oil sector is so dirty that nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the surgical changes needed.”
Buhari is yet to reveal his ministerial list, but is expected to do so soon.
It wouldn’t be a new journey for the Head of State, having been the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Energy under General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1976 and as Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund under General Sani Abacha.
