Argentina captain Messi has called the win Argentina’s best performance at the copa.

“We played our best match of the Copa America,” Messi told TVP.

“We create a lot of chances… Unfortunately we were able to get a goal and we were eventually lucky to win on penalties.”

Carlos Tevez hit the winning kick to book a place in the last four, where they will come up against either Brazil or Paraguay.

Messi, who was named man of the match, has hit just one goal in the tournament, scoring from the penalty spot in Argentina’s opening match against Paraguay which ended in a 2-2 draw.
