Report says Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger, with the German World Cup winner keen on a reunion with former coach, Louis van Gaal.
According to The Mirror, Louis van Gaal is apparently keen to secure the Bayern Munich star, who he managed during his two-year stint at the Bundesliga side.
The Red Devils’ Dutch boss has instructed Ed Woodward to do all he can to bag the 30-year-old, with a £7.5m deal on the table for the midfielder who has just one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich.
However, Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer recently advised the midfielder against a move to the Premier League.
Speaking to Bild, he said: “Adapting to a different European league is difficult at his age.
“He has played with great force and put a lot of pressure on his body for many years. That saps energy.
“He could end his career in the USA instead.
“If I was at Schweini’s place, I would stay one or two years more at Bayern. Until then, he can still perform at the highest level.”
