President Muhammadu Buhari had divulged that Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has numerous bank accounts that they can’t name all.
This disclosure was delivered during the African Summit in Johannesburg which was attended by many African leaders and dignitaries.
President Buhari, who was a petroleum minister during the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo military regime, (1976-1979) was dismayed at the development, describing it as ‘improper’.
The President further revealed that the NNPC had only three accounts in contrast to what the Jonathan government left: “too many accounts such that the NNPC and the ministry of finance did not know how many accounts they had.”
This is bringing light to the forgone as the NNPC on Friday, confirmed the corporation is yet to remit $11.6 billion, about N2.32 trillion back to the federal coffers.
