The Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Suleiman Dikko, has on Monday pardoned 16 inmates awaiting trial in Lafia Prison.

The inmates in Lafia prison were pardoned following a four-day tour of prisons across the state by the chief judge.

Among the 16 inmates released, 12 were released without bail, while four were granted bail on self recognition.

The inmates released are: Mohammed Saleh, Mamman Adamu, David Danjuma, Abdullahi Inusa, Adamu Zakari, Useni Saidu, Ruwa Uamaru, Mustapha Obeka, Jibrin Ismalia, Emmanuel Rabo, Sunday James and Nathaniel Abi.
Those granted bail on self recognition include; Musa Halidu, Yakubu Musa, Yusuf Haruna and Aliyu Yusuf.

According to the chief judge, the visit was part of his duties aimed at de-congesting the prisons in the state and to ensure justice to inmates who were wrongly detained.

Dikko urged them all them to desist from committing any crime that would make them come back to the prison.
