Edison Cavani’s father has been arrested and is being accused of killing a man with his car while driving under the influence of Alcohol and according to Oscar Tabarez, head coach of the Uruguayan national team, the Paris Saint-Germain forward might be heading home from Chile early to support his family.
Cavani’s father, Luis Cavani was arrested after his vehicle hit a 19 year old on a motorcycle in Uruguay. The unnamed victim suffered multiple fractures and concussions and was rushed to the hospital where he died. The former Napoli forward’s father had initially tested positive to beign over thwe alcohol limit and is being held under the counts of drunk-driving and homicide. Oscar Tabarez told reporters that Cavani was going to train with the side tomorrow morning but he couldn’t be sure that the star forward would feature in Wednesday’s quarter final against Chile. “It is a personal issue regarding Edinson who was not involved in anything but is nonetheless affected,” Tabarez told reporters on Tuesday. “We talked to him to extend our support to him. He is affected as anyone who would have such a thing happen to a member of their family.
Losing Cavani would be a huge blow to Uruguay who are already without Luis Suarez and are desperately struggling for goals.
