The mother of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, Dolores Aveiro, was apprehended at Madrid’s Barajas Airport last month carrying an illegally large amount of money as she prepared to fly out of the country.
The 60-year-old woman, broke the rules of money laundering which state that a traveler is not permitted to go out of Spain with a maximum of €10,000, as she was caught by border police with a sum of €55,000 (£40,000) in her hand luggage.
El Mundo reported that Aveiro, had not filled out a declaration form and was held by civil guard agents at the airport for a few minutes while the excess amount of cash was confiscated.
She was then allowed to fly to Portugal with €10,000 in her handbag.
It was further gathered that she will be asked to pay the fine of at least €600 for the attempt to illegally export cash, before she can be able to collect the seized €45,000.
