Brazil Beat Venezuela 2-1 Without Neymar

Brazil picked up a 2-1 win over Venezuela as they survived what could have been a fight back from the Venezuelans to seal top spot and proceed to the quarterfinals.

Brazil were ahead within 9 minutes as returning captain, Thiago Silva as he met Robinho’s corner kick with a header from just outside the six yard box to put his side ahead. The game went back and forth for but the game proceeded at a slow pace until half time. 6 minutes after the restart, Brazil were 2-0 up as Firmino rounded off a superb run from Willian. Brazil controlled the game until the 84th minute as Miku headed the ball into the net after Jefferson ha d saved Arangu’s free kick. Brazil survived a tense closing to the game to seal yet another goal victory.

Brazil would now be looking to win the tournament for the first time in 8 years.
