Sepp Baltter announced his resignation shortly after winning re-election into office as FIFA president for what was set to be his fifth term but recent reports suggest the Swiss may not step down after all.
FIFA were set to find a replacement for Blatter between December and February but the Swiss was to continue to serve as the president until then. According to a source close to Blatter, Sepp is set to continue after he had been encouraged to stay on by football associations from Africa and Asia in recent days. Also the resignation of Walter de Giorgio, FIFA’s director of communications is also another reason why Blatter is considering staying on as the president of FIFA. FIFA are currently going through a period of crisis with accusations of corruption tainting the image of the Football in the entire world and Sepp Blatter is charged with manning the ship.
This would not be the first time Sepp Blatter would go back on his words as in 2011, the Swiss told the world that he wouldn’t contest for re-election in 2015. In May however, the Swiss pulled a GEJ on the world of football as he contested again for what in now his fifth term in office
