More than 50 operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have been instructed by a Federal High Court in Lagos to immediately vacate the Lagos residence of the senator-elect for Ogun East Senatorial District, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.
The order which was issued on May 26, Tuesday, stated that the status quo must be maintained.
It would be recalled, the NDLEA operatives had laid siege on Kashamu’s residence in Lagos since Saturday.
According to the drug agency, it had received a formal extradition request on Kashamu from the government of the United States of America and was coming to court to secure an extradition order.
However, Justice Ibrahim Buba, in a bench ruling on Tuesday afternoon, rejected the action of the NDLEA as he ordered the men of the Nigerian police to ensure that NDLEA operatives vacate Kashamu’s premises “without a free for all.”
Meanwhile, Kashamu, did not appear in court on Monday for the extradition proceedings.
