The United States men 4×100 relay team to the 2012 Olympics have been stripped of their silver medal.
The team, comprising of Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay, Ryan Bailey and Trell Kimmons were stripped of their medals due to Gay’s suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.
Gay had already returned his since his suspension was announced, and now the whole team will return theirs on the order of the International Olympic Committee.
All of Gay’s results from 15 July 2012 – the date he first used a product containing a banned substance – were annulled.
Trinidad & Tobago, the original bronze medalists, will likely be upgraded to silver, while France, which finished 4th, will get the bronze medals.
