 Court Freezes Benue, Plateau Bank Accounts Over Unpaid Salaries




Following the refusal to pay workers their salaries, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has frozen the accounts belonging to Benue and Plateau states in Skye Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank of Nigeria and First City Monument Bank Plc.

The Judge in charge, Justice Ademola Adeniyi delivered this directive on Monday while ruling on two ex-parte applications filed by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), which sought to attach the states’ accounts in the banks over their alleged refusal to pay about N1.6billion to comply with the January 13, 2014, judgement delivered by the judge.

According to the Judge, “An order nisi is hereby made attaching the money belonging to the 15th and 16th judgment debtors/respondents domiciled with Skye Bank Plc, Makurdi Branch – account number 170008758, to satisfy the judgement awarded in favour of the judgement creditor/applicant.”

The same was said to Plateau State’s accounts in the other banks. The judge ordered the garnishee“to show cause why the order nisi should not be made absolute by the court.”

The judge revealed that the amount due to Benue State judiciary as at March 2015 is N957,630,349.57 and the amount due to the Plateau State judiciary for the same period is N673,019,948.19.


Boko Haram Makes A Move On Maiduguri Once Again




Despite being considerably weakened, Boko Haram comes again for the city they have never been able to take over.

According to reports, the sect members entered the town through an area known as “Cashew Plantain” which is behind Gina Barracks, housing the 7th Division of the Army. Residents say were taken unawares as the sect members stormed their community, shooting sporadically and causing everyone to run for safety. Nigerian troops are reportedly engaging the sect members in a serious gun battle.

However, at 6.30 PM, Defence HQ reported that Nigerian troops successfully repelled the attack on Maiduguri through Kayamla.


Juventus Stand Firm To Knock Real Madrid Out Of Champions League


Juventus defied the odds to knock Real Madrid out and progress to the final of the UEFA Champions League.

After a 2-1 victory in Italy, the Serie A leaders needed a draw or a high-scoring one goal loss to qualify.

Cristiano Ronaldo had put Madrid ahead through a penalty, but Alvaro Morata came back to hauntFlorentino Perez as he scored again to give Juventus a priceless draw.

Juventus will now Barcelona in the final of the Champions League on the 6th of June at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.


I’m The Speed Boat Driver That Took The Armed Gang; I Was Paid N50K – Lekki Bank Robbery Suspect

A suspected member of the armed robbery gang who invaded a bank in Lekki, Lagos reveals the part he played in the deadly operation.

Identified as Ekelemo Kuete , the suspect said he was given N50,000 for his involvement.

The suspect, said ” We were 15 in number that went for that operation and we used two speed boats.

“Five of us stayed back in the boat at Lekki while the other 10 went inside the bank. When they killed the policemen and two other civilians I queried them but they didn’t listen.”

“I am the speed boat driver that took the armed robbery gang to Lekki on Mach 12, 2015”. I didn’t want to go, they forced me, and after the operation, they gave me N50,000. I have not gone for robbery operation before now; I am into oil bunkering in Arepo along Lagos Ibadan expressway, a community in Ogun state. I know they were robbers when the contracted me to use my speed boat to convey them through the waterways to Lekki. I make money from oil bunkering between N50,000- N80,000 each time I go to work.” The indigene of Ondo state added
