QPR needed a win at the Etihad to give themselves a mathematical chance of surviving in the top flight but Manchester City were rampant and QPR ended up being relegated.
Mancchester City took just four minutes to get going as Aguero raced into the QPR box skipping past two challenges before chipping the ball past Rob Green to make it one nil. It was 2-0 in the 32nd minute as Kolarov sent a beautiful freekick past a hapless Green into the QPR net to add to Chris Ramsey’s dismay. Manchester continued to control the game in the second half as QPR offered little resistance and Manchester City were crisp with their passing and in the 50th minute, Manchester City broke from a QPR corner allowing Sergio Aguero to run from the halfway line unchallenged before putting the ball past Rob Green and 15 minutes later Agureo made it a hat trick from the spot after Silva had been pushed down in the box by Phillips. Aguero then turned provider in the 70th minute as he knocked Bony’s flick on into the path of Milner who knocked the ball into an empty net before Silva sealed the victory in the 87th minute showing great composure to round the goalkeeper and finish off a great team move in style.
Manchester City have now confirmed a top four finish while QPR have also confirmed championship football for themselves next season.
