Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia have on Sunday attacked the hometown of the outgoing governor of Benue state, killing at least 50 persons, while a host of others were reported missing.
It was learnt that the renewed attack, which occurred between 5 and 6pm on Sunday affected Iorza, Faga, Per and Ukura villages in Logo local government area.
It was further gathered that several houses, churches, markets, personal belongings and farm produce were also completely razed in the fresh violence.
The special assistant on Media to the outgoing governor, Joseph Anawa, who evaded the attack, revealed that about 27 corpses have so far been recovered.
The localities currently are in a state of complete quagmire as residents are seen packing their belongings out of their homes.
