As Nigerians gear up for the new regime, confirmed reports from our correspondents say the president-elect –Muhammadu Buhari– is bringing in a whole new team to replace the Service Chiefs; the National Security Adviser (NSA), and the Director General State Security Services (SSS) respectively.

Confirming this to our reporter, a top security personnel said it is the norm for the service chiefs to exit the position once a new administration is coming in, to ensure the new authority restructures his administration fully, especially as security is the core of everything in governance.

In a similar incident, during the regime of Olusegun Obasanjo he let go of the security team in office following General Abdusalami Abubakar’s exit from power. Similarly, President Goodluck Jonathan had reshuffled the team from the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua as he assumed office.
