After winning the “fight of the century” Mayweather earlier stated that he would consider a rematch with his Filipino adversary, Manny Pacquiao but in an interview with Showtime yesterday, Mayweather stated that the Filipino was a coward and a sore loser and he had no intention of stepping into the squared circle with him again.
Pacquiao who is currently facing lawsuits for failure to reveal a shoulder injury prior to the match claimed that the injury inhibited his performance against Mayweather and claimed that he could win the rematch if Mayweather granted one. Mayweather however stated that he would not grant a rematch, calling Pacquiao a sore loser. “He was fast. His left hand was fast, his right hand was fast and he was throwing them both fast and strong.” Mayweather told Showtime when the issue of Pacquiao injury came up. When asked if he would still grant Pacquiao a rematch Mayweather was quoted saying “I change my mind,” he said. “At this particular time, no, because he’s a sore loser and he’s a coward. If you lost, accept the loss.”
Pacquaio underwent surgery on Wednesday for a torn rotator cuff and would be out of action for almost a year and Floyd has stated that he would compete one more time before finally hanging up his gloves.
