Many people intending to travel within Nigeria were left stranded on Saturday after airline operators Arik Air and Aero Contractors canceled their domestic flights.
The cancellations of the flights was due to the lack of aviation fuel in the country.
According to Arik Air’s Banji Ola, only the airline’s domestic flights were affected by the scarcity.
“We had to cancel our domestic flights because of lack of aviation fuel to run the aircraft. Our international flights are still running. We had a case of an international flight to London travelling to Kano to refuel before heading for its destination,” he said.
A spokesperson for Aero Contractors, Mr. Simon Tumba, also announced the cancellation of the airline’s domestic flights due to the fuel situation.
