Louis Van Gaal told reporters today that Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea, who is being heavily pursued by Real Madrid would have the freedom to make the decision on where he wants to continue playing his football.
Van Gaal was speaking ahead of Manchester United’s weekend tie against Hull City which would be the final game of the season and he expressed optimism that the former Atletico Madrid shot stopper would remain at Old Trafford but he however conceded that it was the 22 year old’s choice. “I believe still that David de Gea shall stay,” Van Gaal said. “You know that I shall talk with [the players] maybe tomorrow, we’ll have a farewell drink. After the match, I have the Monday to talk, I have spoken to some players this week. You have to wait and see how these talks develop in terms of players staying or going.”
Manchester United would be looking to bring in a replacement if De Gea leaves and they are reportedly in the market looking at possible options.
