Stephen Gerrard’s going away memories of Anfield would befilled with mixed emotions as the club legend could not inspire his side to a draw talk more of a win against party pooper, Crystal palace whose 3-1 victory ensured that they completed the double over Liverpool this season.

The worst was still to come for Liverpool as another substitute found the back of the net for Palace, Wilfred Zaha won a penalty for Palace and Murray stepped up. Gerrard returned to the pitch to give his farewell speech as Liverpool did their lap of honor for their final game of the season but he would have liked to have won
