Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has made it known that Chelsea were unwilling to send De Bruyne their way due to the fact that, Lewandowski rejected a move to the EPL side.
Belgian Kevin de Bruyne joined Wolfsburg in 2014 and has made his mark as one of the best Attacking Midfielders in Europe.
Watzke admitted that BVB were interested in signing the Belgian in 2013, but the move was blocked after Lewandowski refused to join the west London outfit.
“It [signing De Bruyne] would have fitted well into the planning'” he told Bild.
“But the conditions could not be agreed. Chelsea were unwilling to let him go because they were angry that Robert Lewandowski had not gone to Chelsea.”
