Box Office Muscle: Dwayne Johnson Pushes ‘San Andreas’ To Big Box Office Opening

Dwayne Johnson continues to demonstrate his ability to pull weights at the Box Office.

The former wrestler’s latest release, San Andreas, opened big at the Box Office, making $53.2 million in the United States.

The Rock, as he is known in wrestling circles, plays a heroic helicopter pilot seeking to rescue his daughter, played by Alexandra Daddario, amid the rubble of a mega-quake in San Andreas.

Universal’s Pitch Perfect 2 continued to perform strong in its 3rd weekend, racking up another $14.8 million for a US total of $147.5 million.

George Clooney‘s Tomorrow Land was a close third, making $13.8 million for a $63.2 million 10-day total.
