Following a 2-0 loss to Colonge at the weekend, Kevin Prince Boateng and Syndey Sam have been suspended indefinitely by Shalke 04 while Marco Hoger has been handed a one week ban.
The suspensions were blamed on lack of mutual trust between the players and the club as recent actions by the players off the pitch have been seen as destructive to the club’s structure. A statement released by Shalke 04 read “Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt announced there would be consequences after Sunday’s defeat away to Cologne and the first action taken has been: Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam have been suspended with immediate effect. Marco Hoger is suspended from training and first-team action up to and including Saturday, 16 May.” This means that all three players would not feature in the Bundesliga again this season.
Roberto DI Matteo has gone one step further as he told Sam and Boateng that they were free to find new clubs as there was no place for them at Shalke anymore.
