The Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Batch ‘A’ stream ‘I’, will today be passing out from their various camps nationwide.
By now, they would all have been immersed in the ocean of ‘Otondo’.
If we recall, last week Tuesday, the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) Brigadier-General Johnson Olawunmi, made history as the first manager of the scheme to spend a night with corps members on location.
The DG NYSC was spotted at the NYSC orientation camp in Taraba State where he met with corps members and even had dinner, which was prepared by the corps members.
It was shocking to his security staffs as he made open his intention of spending the night in one of the orientation camps.
However, the Ekiti State-born soldier was not swayed by the whole protocol concern, and by the time his convoy drove out of the camp, history, a positive one for that matter, had been made.
Addressing them before his departure, General Olawunmi charged the corps members on patriotism adding that it was wrong for young Nigerians to “believe that nothing can work in the country.”
He stressed that they should instead be optimistic and follow the footsteps of the country’s founding fathers, who did their best because of their belief in the country.
