In a recent clash between the dreaded Islamic sect and troops of the Nigerian Army around Kayamula village, close to Miaduguri, over 60 persons have been killed most of whom are suspected members of Boko Haram.
The group hit the city, fully armed, and targeted military formations including the Giwa Barracks, according to our sources.
In view of these insecurity worries, there’s been a 24hour curfew in the city. Tukur Gusau, Deputy Director Army Public Relations, previously signed a statement to this effect.
Gusau stated that “in view of the recent development within Maiduguri metropolis a 24 hour curfew [has been] imposed in the city.”
“This is done to protect lives and property of innocent and law abiding people of Maiduguri.”
