20-Year Old Mhairi Black Becomes Youngest Elected British MP In Over 300 Years

20-year old Mhairi Black has become the youngest elected member of the British Parliament since 1667.

Black, who represented the SNP, won Labour heavyweight Douglas Alexander in what many consider a huge coup.

Speaking after her victory, Ms. Black said: “Whatever you’re views are on Scotland’s future, I will seek to represent you to the best of my ability.”

“I may be young but I’m running for everyone. The thing is, issues that affect young people, actually they’re the same issues affecting everyone across the board.”

“This is a real chance,” she said. “Things like this don’t come along very often.”
