Real Madrid have cut Barcelona’s lead at the top of the la liga to just 2 points with four games to go as goals from James Rodriguez and Alvaro Arbeloa lead the European champions to a 3-0 win over Almeria in their La liga clash tonight.
Real Madrid started the match brightly but Almeria set up to defend and defended quite well with the aid of luck. All that changed one minute before half time as a poorly cleared ball landed at the feet of Colombian midfielder, James Rodriguez. Rodriguez fired in a 25 yard stunner past Ruben to make it one nil to Madrid. Four minutes after the restart, Toni Kroos found himself free in the Almeria box and fired in a low cross into the middle of the box and with Ronaldo waiting behind him, Dos Santos attempted to clear the ball but ended up scooping the ball into his own net. Real Madrid had a few chances to extend their lead but were guilty of poor finishing on the night. Real Madrid finally put the result beyond doubt in the 84th minute through one of the most unlikely sources, Alvaro Arbeloa who slid in to knock Hernandez’s cut back into the net.
Real Madrid have set the stage for what would be a dramatic conclusion to the La Liga this season even as both teams are seemingly on a collision course in the UEFA champions league
