Michael Igbinedion Given A Fine Of N3 Million For Laundering N25 Billion

Michael Igbinedion, younger brother of former Edo state governor, Lucky Igbinedion was today sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for charges bothering on money laundering.

The sweet part of the deal is that Michael has the option of paying a fine of N1 million for each of the three counts 79, 80 and 81, for which he was convicted. Unfortunately for a Mr Patrick Eboigbodin, however, who was sentenced alongside Igbinedion, he has no option of fine and gets a 20 years imprisonment term.

Mr Patrick Eboigbodin was an aide to former Governor Lucky Igbinedion.

The accused used four companies, Gava Corporation Limited, Romrig Nigeria Limited, PML Securities Company Limited and PML Nigeria Limited to launder money.
