Jimi Agbaje Comments On Oba Of Lagos’ Threat To Igbos

share on:

The People Democratic Party’s gubernatorial aspirant in Lagos state, Jimi Agbaje, has commented on the threats made by the Oba of Lagos.

The internet had been broken after comments had surfaced that the Oba of Lagos had threatened to drown Igbo people should they not vote for Agbaje’s opponent, the All Progressive Congress’ Akinwunmi Ambode.

Agbaje said on his Facebook page:

In the words of Winston Churchill: “Never, never, never give up.”

I’m aware of the intimidation that a lot of you might be facing as we head into the final stretch of this election campaign. I get it. I understand what you are going through because I also had to face it in the course of this campaign, if this serves as any consolation.

One thing I’ve learnt in life, however, is that the people who threaten you, knowingly or unknowingly, further validate your importance and underscore advantage. I would like to take this time to encourage you all not to respond to intimidation with violence but rather confront it with the collective power of your votes. Change is coming to Lagos. Tell your friends and families.

I hope you all had a pleasant Easter celebration.

  1. Mr. Agbaje, you can use the mistake of the Oba all you want but it won’t take you anywhere. What the Oba did is despicable and unaceptable but it doesn’t mean you will win the election.

  2. You have always been a great leader with matured words and good sense of judgement. Please hold on to your dreams. So you will triumph over your enemies.

    Festac Town.
    Lagos State.

  3. PDP with their plan, i believe Oba of Lagos is working under ground for u people but with GOD all things are possible. For 16yrs that PDP has been ruling Nigeria what is our gain? Jimi Agbaje weldone for your effort but you can not win Lagos State not to talk of becoming the governor. Akinwunmi Amode is the governor so don’t waste ur money like Jonathan did

  5. @Funkybaby
People like you sound as if you will cast more than one vote at time. I advise that we sample a free and fair Election in Lagos for once to know whom the real Man is. As for the Oba’s Comment, this is another display of ‘Agboro’ or Areaboy’s life. it is not a surprise to me. Even their Men-of-God are like that. IT is in the Blood and there is nothing you can do about that.
This is just an eye opener about what the Igbo’s pass through in this Part of Nigeria. Its just that they the Igbo’s are not good at learning Lessons. Fashola made it clear to them before now that Lagos is not for all. He bungled some the Igbo’s home then. So the Plan has for long been there. The Oba has just confirmed it.

  6. It is also important for the Law enforcement agency to move into action on this statement by the OBA, There is a saying the ” a treat is a treat either real or assumed. The Oba should be arrested without delay to serve as a warning to others and for National Peace. No one is above the Law.

  7. The oba of lagos is nothing but an area boy. He should be arrested, sentenced and hanged. He is not worthy live

  8. wen are we(igbos) going 2 learn, yoruba pple are d worst pple in nigeria, they hate us. In western word u dont deport an irelander 4rm england no mata wat he or she does bt in nigeria its different igbos were deported 4rm lagos nd now its d so called oba threatening igbos, infant make una wait we dey come. Jimi all d way.

  9. Dear Oby,
The Yoruba’s are not the worst. We are all as bad or good as the other; given the right circumstances and upbringing. We all have to stand against tribalism in order to move forward.
In the east there is tribalism between their different tribes; same applies in the west, south and north.
We need to stop transferring hatred and ignorance down the generations. Cheers

  10. I think the best thing Naija needs is to be disectec and disintegrated so that the tranquility we all need will come to stay… FELLOW NAIJARIANZ, HAVE I SPOKEN WELL?

  12. The level of maturity in Jimmy Agbaje cannot be over emphasis, let the Oba Of Lagos says whatever he likes , because of his selfish ends, the Igbos will not be moved by his words, cos He has eaten DODO, So he cannot say ODODO , How can he says Jimmy cannot be governor in Lagos? is he God, I believe God will prove him wrong, JIMI AGBAJE ALL THE WAY. We are solidly behind you JIMI.

  13. I have nothing much to say.But oba or no oba, threat or no threat, the handwriting is on d wall and can never be erased….#Jimi all d way.
