NEYMAR BRACE SENDS PSG PACKING
PSG went into the second leg of the champions league match against Barcelona with a mountain to climb, having lost 3-1 at Parc des Princes to the Catalans.
The match was put to bed by Neymar when he netted a brace in the first half, the first goal came as earl as the 14th minute thanks to Iniesta’s brilliance. Neymar completed his brace 11 minutes to the end of the first half, when his head connected with a Dani Alves cross, to all but seal PSG’s exit from the league.
PORTO DEALT WITH AS BAYERN RUN RIOT
Be like dream for my eyes, no for real, when i saw the scoreline I thought I was dreaming. This same Porto that beat Bayern Munich 3-1 could not mirror their efforts in Germany. If Porto faces Bayern again, they’ll probably think twice before beating them. Thiago Alcantara who was the sole scorer for Bayern at Portugal, opened the scoring in the 15th minute. The scoreline tripled before 30 minutes, thanks to goals from Boateng and Lewandowski. Muller’s deflected shot made it four and Lewandowski completed his brace to make it five before halftime. It was settled really and Martinez’s goal 17 minutes from time served as a consolation, when Alonso put the game to bed with a beautiful free kick.
CHICHARITO THE HERO AS REAL MADRID SURGE AHEAD
Anyone could have won this game, as evenly matched as both teams were, no favourites in mind and it was all to play for. Atletico’s lack of enthusiasm though was their undoing. Madrid plagued with injuries had no choice but to look to their bench for help. The game was all but destined for extra time, but Arda Turan’s second yellow which resulted in a red card 14 minutes from time, opened the door for Real Madrid who has failed to beat their Madrid brothers in their last seven encounters. Ronaldo teed up United loanee Chicharito, to score the loan goal of the game over two legs.
JUVENTUS SCALE THROUGH
Arturo Vidal’s penalty goal in the first leg of the match at Juventus, served as the goal that would see them through to the semifinals of the league. Monaco threatened, but no goal was forthcoming and it ended in a draw.
