Manchester City’s Frank Lampard and Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard were both honored by the PFA for their contributions to league football in England with the PFA merit award.
Gerrard who is without a doubt a Liverpool legend would round off his Liverpool career this year the same way Lampard did his Chelsea career last year, with a move to the United States of America. While Lampard still returned to the premier league for a loan spell with Manchester City where he scored some important goals, Lampard would always be remembered for his service to Chelsea where he became the club’s leading goal scorer and the first midfielder to score 21 league goals in one season. Gerrard has never won the premier league title but is without a doubt one of the greatest player to play for Liverpool, winning the champions league, FA cup and League cup with his side.
Both players represented England and had great things to say about each other as teammates and rivals. Both players are set to go down among the likes of Bobby Charlton, Kenny Daglish, Patrick Viera, Ryan Giggs and Tony Adams as some of the very best to have had long illustrious careers in the premiership
