Record smashing Fox’s TV show “Empire” has been cancelled.
The Lee Daniels produced series on January 17 was renewed for a second season but now Fox has rescinded.
Starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the first season of the musical drama was a huge success.
It is said that the show is loosely based off hip hop mogul, Jay-Z’s life.
According to Fox’s public relations representative, Charles McRae, the show’s cancellation was due to contractual negotiations.
Fox says producers, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong’s production camp were the main determining factors in the cancellation.
It was also learnt that the network pulled the plug on the show for failure to film episodes of the show’s season two, which were scheduled to air September, 2015.
Lee Daniels is currently meeting with several networks to find a new home for the hit series.
He along with co-creator Danny Strong, will be meeting with HBO, Showtime, Viacom and ABC in the next few days.
