Karim Benzema would be unavailable for Real Madrid today when they take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions league quarterfinal clash. The Frenchman was ruled out with damaged knee ligaments.
Benzema had limped out of the pitch at half time with a complaint about his knee in the first leg but was cleared by the medical personnel who ran tests and declared the striker fit however, the player pulled up again in training and further test revealed that the former Lyon man had damaged ligaments in his right knee and faces a lay off. Real Madrid would have to start Hernandez in the striker’s place today at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid would be looking to pick up a win after a goalless draw at the Vincente Calderon eight days ago and the 10-time European champions would have to do it without Benzema and Bale.
