A spokesperson for the Nigerian Army has confirmed that the 293 women rescued in today’s operation are not the girls that were abducted last year April from a school in Chibok, Reuters reports.

This, however, does not take away the significance of rescuing 293 women from the shackles of captivity. However, the Chibok girls got a lot of global attention, while other groups of people abducted before and after the Chibok Girls incident have gotten little or no mention, so it is easy to see why most people are rooting for (only) them.
We congratulate the military and appreciate their newfound dedication. All lives matter.
