About me

Otto Canon is an optimistic visionary in the sense that I can visualize and envisage where I’m going. I’m 25 years old and an indigene of Elelenwo, Obio-Akpo LGA, Rivers State. I have a passion in entertainment, business and philanthropy.  I dream big dreams, but do not stop at dreaming dreams. I go all the way to ensure that my dreams become reality by persistent and consistent hard work, perseverance, resilience and prayers.  I’m a Christian. I believe in God and I know that with God, all things are possible and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. So, I never say never and I always focus on the positive side of life.I was born at the Military Hospital, GRA, Port Harcourt and I grew up in Port Harcourt.

What prepared Me for the Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS)?

While growing up, I was in the Pathfinders’ Club of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. This was the youth club where we got to camp in bushes and carried out jungle games like track and train, obstacle relay and all of such. These actually unconsciously prepared me for GUS.

My Sojourn in the GUS Jungle

Well, my jungle adventures are too numerous. I actually got to understand what people on the other side get to experience on a daily basis and this made me appreciate the good side of life and never to misuse and devalue what I have. At some point in the jungle, we went without food for 3 days and this was no joke. We got to play the jungle games in hunger, I mean: incline and decline up and down the hills and valleys. Some people could faint under such stress and hunger. But I also learnt to stay focused and determined to a cause inspite of the odds.  Inspite of the setbacks and challenges, I always stayed strong and motivated; knowing I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  It all made me realize that I’m way stronger than I ever thought.

Canon 4

Where will I go from GUS?

Well, like I said, I have a passion for entertainment.  I’ve always been an actor and a model. Also with my entrepreneurial skills, I have a state and national pageant I’m working on plus a national award; also lots of modelling, TV Series and movie jobs all around. Face of Rivers is a pageant I run here in Rivers State. I’ll also be organizing Face of Rivers Awards soon.

Canon 8

We heard you went for the show 5 times before succeeding

I actually put in for the show 4 and not 5 times. The first time I put in for it, I just came to have fun; but when I got turned down, I got challenged.  And I got turned down a second time, then I got more challenged and I said I must cross that bridged and each time;I got to the final selection stage. So, this made me believe that for me to get this close to the round of 30 out of over 50,000people, then I’ll get through and I eventually did on my fourth shot.
