360Nobs Artiste Of The Week – Reekado Banks, The Next Big Thing [+3 Hit Songs]

share on:

The man

Reekado Banks tops the poll this week as our 360 Artiste Of The Week. He first caught our eyes with his delivery on “Dorobucci’, though only half-convincing at the time. On “Adaobi”, he had stepped up some notches higher. We were watching.

The Music

No flash in the pan, he went on to deliver the lustrous solo effort “Chop Am”. And then “Katapult”. And it’s been a progressive ride for the young man ever since.

He recently stole major shine on “Allelu”, a song featuring heavyweights as Wale, Olamide and his Mavin boss, Don Jazzy.

Reekado has started on a good note, we only hope he shoots up with more singles in coming months into the latter half of the year, and further cement his stay in a grossly competitive turf that is the Nigerian Afro Pop circle. If this is the case, then by early next year an album can be in view. Too much to ask for? Certainly not.

Unique Selling Point (USP)

Age is a factor for him, he has time to grow into the space and hone his skills to a summit. He has the adept Don Jazzy to look to for some guidance and production supports. And then his voice; which is perhaps his strongest point. If you believe in reincarnation, then this is Wande Coal in a younger form. Reekado has a balanced vocal strength, though slightly lower in richness vis-à-vis the Wande pitch we love how his flows and the instrumentation blend. We hear this anew on every single (and collaboration) of his.

Speaking of singles, enjoy a few of his materials below (collaborations included);
