share on:

Ten man USA held Switzerland to a 1-1 draw in their international friendly earlier today as Jozy Altidore was red carded for the first time in his career with the Yankees.

USA dominated the first half as they looked to end their recent winless run and were rewarded for their industry in the 45th minute when Brek Shea’s left footed freekick flew past a helpless Burki in the Switzerland goal to give USA the lead. Both sides continued to create chances in the second half until the 66th minute when Jozy Altidore earned himself a straight red card for using abusive language on the referee. Switzerland started to stretch the game and use their man advantage to dominate possession and the Swiss finally equalized in the 80th minute through Stocker, who capitalized on some indecisive defending on the part of the Americans to equalize and make it 1-1
