Following a humiliating defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, Sunderland fired manager Gus Poyet who managed one win in twelve attempts before he was fired.
Sunderland have hired Dutchman, Dick Advocaat to replace Poyet on a short term contract. Advocaat would manage Sunderland till the end of the season as they hope he can steady the sinking ship and rescue Sunderland from relegation this season. Advocaat has had a good career in management managing PSV, Rangers and Zenith St Petersburg and now, the Dutchman is set to test his skills in England. Sunderland moved quickly to replace Advocaat and would offer him a longer contract if he performs well in the next three months.
Advocaat’s first challenge would be navigating a tricky trip to West Ham United on Saturday as he begins the campaign to revive Sunderland.
