NYSC Members’ Lives Threatened as Hoodlums Engage Police In Rivers

Fresh reports from Rivers state claim that sporadic shootings has been witnessed in Ozuaha community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was also claimed that thugs barricaded the road into the town, opened fire on a team of policemen and military police escorting Corps members to their polling unit.

The gun duel which took place at about 10:30am Saturday lasted for 25 minutes.

This incident has reportedly left the town deserted and looking like a ghost-yard.

The development has led to corp members as well as electoral materials to be holed up in several buses preparing to leave the community.

A police officer who helped bring the situation under control said the armed thugs headed towards Ubima — the hometown of Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
